A Course In Miracles (full year)

Tuesdays from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m

Annette Eikerenkoetter, Instructor
Free, but donations are appreciated

Course Description and Objective: A Course in Miracles is a unique, universal, self-study spiritual thought system that teaches that the way to love, inner peace, miracles – or remembering God—is by undoing guilt through forgiveness.

The Workbook for Students consists of 365 lessons, an exercise for each day of the year. A Course in Miracles was “scribed” by Dr. Helen Schucman through a process of inner dictation she identified as coming from Jesus. A clinical and research psychologist and tenured Associate Professor of Medical Psychology, she was assisted by Dr. William Thetford, her department head, who was also a tenured Medical Psychology at the Medical Center where they both worked. Community Circles and Classes UPHI brings you this course as a one-year training program. This training program begins the process of changing the student’s mind and perception so that the student can come to know that all-encompassing love has now opposite, and the blocks to this awareness (fear) be removed. This course of study is not intended to bring one’s learning to completion. Even though the language of the course is that of traditional Christianity, it is a universal spiritual teaching, such as the Science of Living, and not a religion.

Textbook: A Course in Miracles, 3rd ed., includes: Text, Workbook, the Manual for Teachers and the two supplements: Song of Prayer and Psychotherapy.

Prosperity: The Game of Life and How to Play It

Thursdays from 06:30pm - 08:30pm

Cicely Bland, Instructor

January 7, 2016- February 26, 2016

Free, but donations are appreciated.

In this class, we’ll kick off the New Year by exploring the ideas in this metaphysical classic and use them to help crystallize our own thinking and move us forward on our own spiritual paths to increased prosperity. If we see life as a game, we worry less about outcomes and focus on the rules and laws that can lead us to success. This is the path of least resistance. By taking it, we choose to be people of faith instead of fear. Many people are not aware of spiritual law. They are not aware that with only a few small adjustments in their daily habits they can begin to awaken themselves from a sleeping soul and begin to harness the absolute magnificent power of the subconscious mind. This works for anything that we want in life including better health, more love, wealth, and perfect self expression. This book has inspired thousands of people around the world to find a sense of purpose and belonging. It asserts that life is not a battle but a game of giving and receiving, and that whatever we send out into the world will eventually be returned to us. This class helps you discover how your mind and its imaging faculties play leading roles in the game of life. New Year! New You! New Life!

L.E.N.T.  =  Let’s Eliminate Negative Thinking!

Sundays at 2 p.m.

February 14 –March 13, 2016

Facilitated by: Cicely Bland

UPHI invites you to participate in our Lenten program, “Keep a True Lent.” During this time, we abstain from error thinking and meditate on Spiritual Truth until we incorporate it into the consciousness of our oneness with the Father/Mother God.  The place of overcoming is in the consciousness of human beings.

During this class you are invited to observe Lent by choosing to give up the fear-based or negative thinking that is getting in the way of your higher good. We will use Charles Fillmore’s book “Keep a True Lent” as our Lenten guide showing us a path for awakening to Higher Consciousness.

This esoteric approach to Lent involves fasting from negative thoughts and behaviors while focusing on the meaning of the life and teachings of Jesus. Charles Fillmore writes:

When we withdraw our attention, interest, and support from the false and unworthy, this is true fasting. When we give that same attention, interest and support to the enduring good, we are feasting on the things of Spirit and this is true prayer.*

Introduction to Zen: Do Not Squander Your Life!

Bonnie Myotai Treace, Sensei

Course Description and Objective: Ever feel like you’re in some way just going through the motions of your one precious life? Join Bonnie Myotai Treace, Sensei, in this series of workshops exploring the essence of Zen. Known as a joyful yet serious and direct teacher, Myotai Sensei will open this new series at UPHI for those new to Zen as well her long-time students. Sensei: "Zen is not about tips, tools and strategies: it is about realizing directly and intimately who we are and the nature of things. And living our lives out of that realization. It is a reflective and meditative practice that brings us back to a vital, centered life that has real integrity. That’s why it’s relevant, and why it doesn’t contradict any belief system. It will, however, require dropping whatever baggage we’re carrying, masks we’re wearing, and committing ourselves. About time, don’t you think?"

Workshops are held Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Donations of $10-$50 requested from those able to make an offering to help support the teachings and provide possibilities for those who cannot otherwise attend. Please call to register, 212-568-6700 ext. 226.
